Australia



 

2006 Clean Up Australia Day – It is held on the first Sunday of March each year.  Clean Up Australia Day has been running for over 15 years. Staff and family members from Ricoh Australia help collect and remove rubbish from their local community on the day.  After this year’s fruitful event, RAP received a thank-you letter from a Site Supervisor at the Clean Up site Head Office.

Hong Kong




Green Video CompetitionIn order to develop the awareness of wastes among youth, Ricoh Hong Kong, together with a NGO, organized the “Green Video Competition”.  The competition received an overwhelming response with over 70 entries from secondary schools, universities and youth organizations. 

Malaysia




Mangrove reforestation – In line with the World Environment Day, Ricoh Malaysia co-organized the mangrove reforestation event with a NGO.  Together with the participants in the community, Ricoh helped arrange a drawing contest for children, a guided nature walk, nature awareness talk and the exhibition on mangrove conservation.    

New Zealand



Motuihe Island Restoration - Ricoh New Zealand has been taking part in the Motuihe Project, which aims to restore the ecosystems of Motuihe Island. RNZ staff, their families and friends have made the annual trip across to the island for the past three years to plant trees to help in ecological reforestation. With the elimination of animal predators and planting of trees, rare native bird species are being released to this now safe haven of indigenous forests, wetlands and beaches.

Philippines




Ricoh Global Eco ActionThe idea behind this event was to switch off lights in the office as part of the energy saving activities and to gauge the level of employee awareness in energy consumption.  Ricoh Philippines displayed posters and circulated information regarding this event to all staff. RPH switched off their office and signboards' lights after five pm.

Singapore


“From Waste to Wow” competition - It is about transforming Ricoh’s machine wastes into something useful and practical.  At the same time, it is to cultivate ideas and promote creativity among school children. Moreover, the ideas behind this event were to promote Ricoh’s environmental conservation activities to the public and to generate public environmental awareness.  This event was a first-ever competition of its kind in Singapore. 



Taiwan




Environmental essay contest - Together with Taipei Ministry of Education, Ricoh Hong Kong Taiwan Branch sponsored a writing competition about recycling.  In order to raise Taiwan’s recycling awareness among youth, the competition targeted the school students in Taipei. 

Thailand




Ricoh Plant for Life – Ricoh Thailand organized a reforestation activity at the SaKaeRat Environmental Research Station located in Northeast of Thailand together with a NGO.  RTH staff members from three branches planted 1000 trees with invited school children from the local community.  Participants also enjoyed a nature walk in the forest.
